What we have to look forward too!

28th-30th September - The WDSA have now set the date for the National Wheelchair Dance Championship and it is taking place at Watford Colleseum, near London.  Members need to sign up to this now in order for us to sort out finances and transport arrangements.

Sunday 9th September - We are going to attend a disability awareness service in Exeter Cathedral (starts 09.45am) and perform one dance by Alled Jones.  Helen our volunteer has kindly agreed to choreograph this for the group.

Sunday 22nd July - Another opportunity to dance in Haldon Forest – we are dancing at 2pm.

Wednesday 18th July - Living Options have organised an event at which they will be launching their Strategic Plan.  They have organised entertainment for everyone in the afternoon and we will be dancing sometime after lunch.    Everyone is welcome.  Either bring your sandwiches or these can be purchased at the kiosk.

Thursday 12th July - ROC Active are organising their Inspirational Summer Games which is taking place at Exeter Arena and Isca Bowling Centre between 10.00-3.00pm.  There is not only a demonstration being organised by our group but also an opportunity for members to take part in the games.  You can download the Registration Form here as well as read about the event by downloading the Invitation.  Forms need to be submitted by the end of the first week in July.

Saturday 7th July - We are putting on a demonstration at Ellen Tinkham’s Schoold Fete.  The Fete is open from 11.00am until 2.00pm so do go along and enjoy the day.  Our demonstration will be at 1.30pm but please ensure you are ready to dance for 1.15pm in case we are able to bring this forward.  Dancing will be inside.

Wednesday 6th June – We were looking forward to dancing in Haldon Forest at their Forestability Games Event but due to bad weather this event was postponed.  It may be rescheduled for September.   Their Summer programme had mention of us and a photo of Kathy and Jason!

Sunday 20th May – this is the day the Olympic Torch arrives in Exeter.  To mark this event Dance in Devon have organised for key dance groups to put on public demonstrations in the city centre.  Details of the programme and information for dancers are available here Olympic Torch Relay Event – Information-for-dancers-2.1 (revised Sat 19th May 2012).

Thursday 10th May (10.00-4.00pm) – we are off to dance at the Somerset Disability Show organised by Compass Disability Services.   Why not take a look at their website and see the Programme for the day and the details and photo of ourselves.   Paralympic star, Deb Criddle, officially open the independent living exhibition so try not to miss her!  All Information for Dancers is available through this link.

Saturday 11th February (7.00-9.00pm) – time for some romance!  We are organising a sing and dance event called “Waltz of my Heart” to coincide with Valentine.  Our professional dancers will be putting on a demonstration as part of a fundraising event.  The venue is Dawlish Warren Church Hall http://www.dawlishwarren.info/accommodation/church-hall/

Thursday 2 February – Isca Wheelchair Dancers will be holding workshops at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Exeter as part of the Winter Games Event organised by ROC Active, Exeter.  More details to follow.

2011 Events

20 November – National Wheelchair Dance Sports Championship – Weymouth

30th July – An evening of song and dance with Gavotte and the Isca Wheelchair Dancers.

Our thanks go to Ailsa Spackman who is organising this evening as a fundraising event for Isca Wheelchair Dancers.  The dance group are invited to put on a demonstration during the interval whilst the singers have a moment to rest their vocal cords.

Date: Saturday 30th July at 7.00pm.

Venue: St Mary’s Hall, Dawlish Warren

30th July 2011 Family Fun Day at Dame Hannah Rogers Seale Hayne

The group are putting on a display at midday – please sign up if you are interested in taking part.  We will dance for approx 1/2hr to raise money for our dance group.

Whilst there why not also take Part in a Hannahs Tea Party, Meet the animals and enjoy a taster of arts, crafts and music plus outdoor fun activities designed for children of all ages and the young at heart.

The 1st July marks our first anniversary so what have we got planned!

We thought we would mark this event on the evening of Tuesday 5th July so don’t miss this class as you will miss out on a piece of celebration cake!    The Express & Echo are going to do a special feature on us and will be sending a photographer to take some photos for the article. Please ensure you wear your T Shirts.
